Grow Hope 2026

We would like to invite you to participate in Anglican Grow Hope 2026. We are excited to introduce a whole new project. The funds raised this year will go to Alongside Hope's project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Alongside Hope's implementing partner is Church World Service based in Nairobi, Kenya. They are an experienced, amazingly effective organization who are initiating this work in a very distressed, vulnerable part of south central Congo.

Grow Hope 2026 is a Diocese of Rupert's Land fundraising effort for Alongside Hope – the Anglican Church of Canada's main international development organization. Any monies donated to Grow hope go to support a local farmer to produce a crop here in Manitoba. The farmer: Fred Wiebe and Sons, sell the crop in the fall and the proceeds go to the Alongside Hope account at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Any money donated grows hope 3 times: once through the land, skill and time of Fred Wiebe and his sons, secondily through a 4 times match by the Government of Canada at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and finally, most importantly, through the dedication and commitment of Church World Service, hope grows for families in Kasai Central province of DRCongo. Ways you can participate in Anglican Grow Hope 2026:

1. You can invite your parishioners to donate to Grow Hope either through the parish [see below] or directly to the Diocese of Rupert's Land. In each case any cheques must be clearly labelled “Grow Hope”.
2. You can hold a Grow Hope fundraising event at your parish, have a Grow Hope focused Sunday or month of Sundays, or direct a portion of funds raised at a special musical or food event to Grow Hope. Again any funds raised go to the Diocese of Rupert's Land clearly labelled “Grow Hope.”

All these ways to participate in Grow Hope have been used successfully by different parishes in our Diocese. We're here to help. Please reach out if you're not sure how to say 'yes' to this invitation to be part of Anglican Grow Hope 2026.

Last year's Grow Hope was very successful. We deposited $39,500 in Alongside Hope's account at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank which was then matched 4 to 1 by Government of Canada funds – over $150,000! We have a detailed report of the impact of the work that money supported through Church World Service in Marsabit County in Kenya. We're happy to share the report if you are interested. Let's make 2026 even more successful and bring hope to families in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A special note to parish treasurers:

1. Any money given by individuals to the parish marked “Grow Hope” needs to 1. go to the Diocese of Rupert's Land by the end of September [please] clearly identified as Grow Hope; and 2. individuals need a tax receipt from the parish.
2. Individuals who donate directly to the Diocese of Rupert's Land will receive a tax receipt from the Diocese.
