The Archivist is hired by the Diocesan Bishop. The archivist’s position includes serving the Diocesan Bishop, parishes, clergy and people in the diocese by:
- Developing and implementing archival practices to support the preservation of the Diocese’s historical records and materials
- Supporting parishes in maintaining their historical records
- Ensuring privacy standards are upheld for personal information in historical records
- Supporting the process of sacramental searches and the provision of certified copies of sacramental events such as baptisms, marriages, etc.
- Assisting researchers and the general publics with archival queries
