Executive Summary – St. Peter’s Anglican Church
St. Peter’s is a vibrant urban parish situated in the River Heights area of Winnipeg. Over our history we have benefited from the leadership and vision of a succession of beloved incumbents who have helped us to grow in our faith and experience of Christian ministry. We are looking for a half-time incumbent who will lead our committed and supportive worshiping community, which approaches 40 people (both in person and on Zoom) on any given Sunday. St. Peter’s offers an accessible worship space, administrative support, parish offices, financial stability, and an inclusive environment within a prosperous residential area of our city. The parish has a positive working relationship with the Diocese, and members of St. Peter’s frequently serve on diocesan committees.

Our identity is rooted in worship. Important features that help enhance our worship experience include the role of lay officiant who embodies the participation of all, a sounding bowl, healing prayers, and a music ministry, led by our Director of Music Ministry. A weekly meditation group and a seasonal labyrinth offer additional opportunities for prayer. Parishioners are also deeply committed to making the world a better place, whether here at home or around the world, through such ministries as 1JustCity, the Grow Hope Project, the Thelma Wynne Project, and Alongside Hope (PWRDF).
Our Faith Forward Committee has been leading the parish through a process of discernment for the last year and a half. Gathering information from parishioners through conversations, workshops and house meetings, we are discerning where God is leading us as we look to the future. Through this work we have identified a number of opportunities and challenges for the future. Among them are reaching out to the surrounding neighbourhood, attracting young families, and becoming more invested in creation care initiatives. While this work continues, we are excited about the journey we are on, and the direction God is leading us.
